EAST LANSING, Michigan — Despite sitting at 8-1 on the season and having all of their championship aspirations still available to them, Ohio State has looked like anything but a championship contender in recent weeks.
With struggles everywhere from the defense to the run game, Ohio State could be in a lot of trouble these next few weeks with a tough game today at Michigan State and then a Top-4 Michigan team coming to Columbus in just two weeks.
With only three games left in the regular season, it is time for Ohio State to finally prove if they are a national championship contender this season or if the Buckeyes are simply a regular bowl team.
Despite beating Nebraska by only five points last week, there were things to be encouraged by in the Buckeyes’ performance, such as the rebirth of the run game and the emergence of safety Brendon White.
However, after several turnovers and a still struggling defense, Ohio State still has fans wondering if they can still win championships this season.
Ohio State certainly has the talent to win championships this season and with the amount of money the university shells out for this coaching staff, one would certainly hope that they have the coaching to improve and transform into a true championship contender.
Time will tell here in the very near future if Ohio State will become that contender or if they are simply a pretender, but one thing that is for certain is that the time is now for Ohio State to make that decision.
No. 10 Ohio State will kick off against No. 18 Michigan State today at noon ET at Spartan Stadium. The game will be televised on FOX.
