COLUMBUS, Ohio — There was an Urban Meyer sighting at the Ohio State vs. Michigan State basketball game on Saturday as the recently retired head football coach of the Buckeyes was seen taking in the action just four days after coaching his final game.
Meyer was honored at a media timeout during the first half for his accomplishments with the football program as he coached in his final game four days ago in the Rose Bowl.
After Meyer was honored on the court, he went and took a seat courtside next to current Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and new transfer quarterback Justin Fields.
Fields announced his transfer to Ohio State on Friday night and is moving in on campus this weekend.
Fields is coming to Ohio State as the expected favorite to win the starting quarterback job next season as Dwayne Haskins will most likely declare for the NFL Draft before the January 15th deadline. Haskins is expected to be the top quarterback taken in the upcoming draft.
Urban Meyer sat with Fields and Haskins for some time, chatting both of them up quite a bit, especially Fields.
For those of you wondering where Tate Martell was, he was reportedly at the game as well as he posted an Instagram story showing him at the game in the lower bowl. His post has since been deleted.
To add to all the football drama happening at the hoops game, new head football coach Ryan Day was reportedly spotted at the game as well, sitting with his wife on the opposite side of the court from the trio of Meyer, Fields and Haskins.
On a day where the men’s basketball team was playing their biggest home game of the season, it ended up being somewhat about the football team with all of the high-profile personnel spotted at the game.
Many fans took pictures with Haskins and Fields at halftime of the game as they made their way down to see the dynamic duo of quarterbacks.
What Meyer and Fields discussed, we will probably never know. One thing that is for certain is that Ohio State fans can buckle in for yet another interesting offseason quarterback situation.
