Urban Meyer Joins FOX Sports As Part Of New College Football Pregame Show

Urban Meyer will be moving from the sidelines to the studio as the recently retired head coach of the Ohio State football team has taken a job with FOX Sports to be a part of their new college football pregame show.

It was first reported back in January by The Sporting News that Meyer and FOX Sports were close to a deal and FOX Sports issued a release on Monday morning making the deal official.

Meyer will join former USC running back and Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush as the newest editions to FOX Sports’ family of college football analysts. The two will be partnered up with current FOX Sports college football analysts Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn as well as host Rob Stone for the college football pregame show that will air on Saturday mornings at 11 a.m. ET.

The quartet of Meyer, Bush, Leinart and Quinn is part of FOX Sports’ plan to create a “Mount Rushmore” of college football analysts who have all had great success in their playing/coaching careers for a show meant to rival the ever-so-popular “College GameDay” on ESPN.

“With a head coach that won three national titles in 10 years, two of the most successful college quarterbacks in recent memory and one of the sport’s most electric running backs, our new college football pregame show has the game covered from all angles,” said President of FOX Sports National Networks, Mark Silverman. “Not only will this all-star cast resonate with viewers because of their recent on-field accomplishments, but this group is going to have a lot of fun discussing the games each week.”

In addition to the new college football pregame show, Meyer will continue to serves as an assistant athletic director at Ohio State and teach his class on leadership at the university’s Fisher College of Business.

For those who were worried about Meyer finding things to keep him busy off the football field, it seems as though he is doing just fine.
