Ohio State Holds At No. 5 In Latest AP Poll

The first AP poll of the 2019 college football regular season was released on Tuesday following the opening slate of Week 1 games and the Buckeyes stayed put at No. 5 in the rankings.

Not much changed in the top of the rankings as all seven of the top-ranked teams from the preseason poll stayed put. The only major changes in the top ten were Florida falling from No. 8 to No. 11 following a lackluster victory over unranked Miami (FL), Notre Dame and Texas sliding up one spot each and Auburn moving up from No. 16 to No. 10 after their victory over previously-ranked No. 11 Oregon, who slid to the No. 16 slot.

As for the Big Ten, the same seven teams that were ranked in the preseason poll also stayed in the Top 25 rankings following Week 1 of the college football season, although some of them being ranked in different slots (No. 5 Ohio State, No. 7 Michigan, No. 15 Penn State, No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 19 Michigan State, No. 20 Iowa, No. 25 Nebraska).

The seven ranked teams in the Big Ten are the most ranked teams of any conference in the country following the Week 1 matchups.

No. 5 Ohio State will have a bigger opportunity to prove themselves this weekend as they take on the Cincinnati Bearcats, who are coming off of a 24-14 victory over UCLA in their season opener.

The Buckeyes and the Bearcats will face off this Saturday, September 7th at Ohio Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon ET and the game will be televised on ABC.
